Even though I own one, I consider cellphones to be the worst invention in human history. They are the ultimate expression of self-involvement and disrespect. They have made people in our society even more immediate gratification focused and often downright rude. I have rules about how I interact with people and their phones: if we're talking and you touch your phone, we're done. I'll probably just walk away from you right then.
I could write a long history about how I think that Sony's Walkman put us on a bad track beginning in the early 1980s and all of the subsequent slides in personal interactions since then, but I won't belabor the point...for now. This illustration isn't a wish by any means, but is intended to represent the lapse in good judgment and reality too many people display by being "connected" to a device instead of other real-life people.
