On August 20, 1980, I thought this was a good idea. Well, to be fair, I dreamed it up -- including the hexagonal font -- and then made copious notes the next day. The notes say that it was to be a green and purple duotone on a metallic silver background. The notes also indicate that this "special edition" featured the original soundtrack to The Lierza Cone...whatever that was. This album cover's not terrible, and it might even have been a little cool in real life if realized according to the notes.
Some years later, Bowie got around to releasing Ziggy Stardust -- The Motion Picture, but the cover looked nothing like this.
Many years later, I began to revisit The Lierza Cone as part of a mockumentary about Roswell, Area 51, ancient aliens, and alternate realities. I may get back to that. It was coming along swimmingly.
